K Mohanan, former General Editor of Deshabhimani, has been selected for the Swadeshabhimani-Kesari media award 2016, instituted by the state government. The award carries a purse of Rs 1 lakh, citation and a plaque.
The award is the State government's top honour for journalists.
The committee also opined that K Mohanan was an Editor, journalist and columnist who gave a new direction to political journalism by overcoming the restrictions including censorship during the emergency.
K Mohanan had been the Chairman of Kerala Media Academy two times.
