Ethiopia’s Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus as its new director general of World Health Organisation(WHO).
He is the first African to lead the WHO.
He will succeed Dr. Margaret Chan on July 1, 2017.
Tedros was Ethiopia's minister of health from 2005 to 2012 and as the country's minister of foreign affairs from 2012 to 2016. In 2009 he was elected to serve a two-year term as chairman of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
