Australian allrounder Shane Watson made this announcement at I S Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Punjab with the end ICC T20 worldcup 2016. He had already retired from Test cricket at the end of 2015 Ashes tour of England.
His retirement marked the end of an era in Australian cricket, as he is the last surviving player of Australia's golden era, playing alongside the likes of Steve Waugh, Glenn McGrath, Adam Gilchrist. He also played for Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League. After the suspension of Rajasthan Royals for two years in 2016, Royal Challengers Bangalore signed him.
Shane Watson plays as a right-handed batsman and a right-handed fast-medium swing bowler. He is the only player to score a century and have taken four wickets in an innings in all forms of cricket. Watson is the first and only Australian to score international centuries in all three formats.
