Deepa Malik won the silver medal in the women's shotput F-53 event with a throw of 4.61m in 2016 Paralympics games in Rio de Janeiro.



Deepa Malik became the first Indian woman to win a medal in Paralympic Games.


Bahrain's Fatema Nedham won the gold medal with the best throw of 4.76 m in the event.

She is paralysed below chest and had 183 stitches in shoulder blades. She was honored with the Arjuna award in 2012.
