The 2017 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), a coalition of non-governmental organisations from over 100 countries around the globe.
It was selected for its for its work to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons and for its ground-breaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition on such weapons.

ICAN is a Non-profit international campaign with its headquarters at Geneva, Switzerland. It was formed in 2007.
The ICAN is made up of 468 partner organizations in 101 countries.
