Om Prakash Rawat today took over as the 22nd Chief Election Commissioner.
He succeeded Achal Kumar Joti.
Mr Rawat is a former Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer and had served as Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises in the Ministry of heavy industries. Former Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa also took charge as Election Commissioner. Sunil Arora is the other Election Commissioner in the three-member panel body.
